ACE History
Ace Hardware was founded in 1924 by a small group of hardware store owners in Chicago. Quickly, Ace changed the retail landscape by allowing individual stores to purchase merchandise in bulk to save money and buy at the lowest possible price. This partnership made it possible for even the smallest stores to compete effectively with the larger retail stores in the market. To this day, the same model is the benchmark for creating success in the hardware industry for entrepreneur owners of all kinds.
Ace also distinguished itself as The Helpful Place. Each location built a solid reputation on the founding principles of friendly, helpful service, set apart by the attention to customer’s needs and devotion to building community connections while offering local jobs.

Ace Canada has over 100 locations across 7 provinces. The majority of Ace stores are independently owned and operated by local entrepreneurs. These are hardworking individuals who believe in supporting community and like to serve the needs of their customers. Ace stores come in different shapes and sizes, depending on the community they operate in. Currently, Ace stores include Ace Country & Garden, Ace Hardware, Ace Lumber and Building Supplies.
